Jane Brooks

Raised in Long Beach, California and attended Whittier College in the 1960’s.  Member of the Metaphonian Society at Whittier College.  Graduated from Cal State University, Long Beach.

Married to Gary Brooks, a member of the Orthogonian Society at Whittier College.  (deceased).  Son, Mike Brooks works as Harbor Patrolman for the community of Catalina Island.  Daughter, Sharon is deceased.

After my husband Gary worked many years with the Robert H. Grant Company, my husband and I founded Northbrook Homes, a home-building company in Northern California in 1974.  We were responsible for the development, construction and sales of over 4,000 single family and multi-family homes from Santa Cruz to Marin County until August of 2014.  For over 40 years, my position was Executive Vice President and Secretary of the company overseeing the escrows and customer service.

In 2016, I retired and moved to Newport Beach.  I am an active volunteer at Hoag Hospital where I work in the Emergency Room.

My interest in the Brethren Community Foundation began when I met with Harriet Harris and I attended the FAME/Brethren Scholars Event in May of 2017.  I believe that the mission and goals of the Foundation are excellent and I would be honored to support the organization with my skills and time.  I believe that we need a purpose.  Being useful to a cause greater than oneself is meaningful and your goals and mission are an inspiration to me.
